they don't say not to smoke at all, but say that you should limit the amount of smoking you do. You're suppose to disinfect your mouth as soon as you are finished smoking with Listerine and/or other mouth disinfectants.
I suggest carrying a small bottle of Listerine with you everywhere you go. You already are suppose to clean your mouth after eating and drinking, it's the only way to be safe. When in doubt call the piercer and ask.

I got my tounge pierced and i smoked the whole time and mine never got infected. Just make sure that you rinse your mouth out with mouthwash after smokin. Hell, i wouldnt have got through the first 2 weeks without something to smoke on!!!! But if you quit smoking for 2 weeks then why not just quit? If you can make it that long then why start back right?

I have the right area of my lip pierced or perhaps although you're not to any extent further meant to smoke for per week, it really isn't any longer conceivable for me, so i only rinsed with mouthwash after each and each smoke and a couple of years later, it really is going good!

Smoking delays healing which can allow bacteria to fester longer and cause infection. Smoking is also deadly on its own, but if you have any surgery or piercings or dental work, it's always recommended for a good reason when your doctor makes a recommendation. If you ever have a question, feel free to ask.

Imagine going to a garage and smearing a big wad of tar into an open cut on your knee, and then checking back on it a day later without taking a bath. You know your knee would be irritated and nasty looking. Same thing.
Beer is off limits too. Yeast and open wounds just aren't cool hanging out in the same place, so if you can't handle liquor, don't drink until it's healed.

I can truthfully tell you because you might end up having to take it out because of it getting infected, swollen or extremely painful. I should know because it happened to me. I got my tongue pierced, I smoked tobacco among other things, and it swelled up so much and hurt so bad that a friend of mine could hardly take it out of my mouth. Seriously wait, I really wanted mine but had to take it out after only a few days. I have since quit smoking, 3 years actually. Anyways, you don't want that to happen to you.
Oh it kinda feels like "dry socket" which I had with a wisdom tooth that got pulled. It feels very irritated. I included a link for dry socket. I mean it might not happen to you, just make sure you don't smoke too much like I did, and rinse with salt water or listerine or something like that.

Well smoking is bad for you no matter what (don't get me wrong... I smoke! haha) but when you have a new piercing that hasn't even had time to heal and is considered an open wound, nicotine, tobacco, and all the tar is not good for an open wound. Don't know from experience, I have piercings but not a tongue piercing. Hope this helps!

because the smoke contaminates your piercing and its very important to keep a tongue piercing clean... and if you do decide to smoke.. make sure you use a bacteria and germ fighting mouthwash to clean out your mouth... infected tongue piercings arent a pretty site at all...

That´s bunch of cr*p. Go ahead and smoke, that warning is a joke. Like "Don´t swim after eating."
I notice people are talking about infections, lol, like smoke contains more bacteria than air.....

makes absolute sense and in the meantime try to quit, two weeks should give you a headstart when needed go on patches, they cost a bit, but in the long run you save it on smokes.
