Tomorrow is hippie day at my school. any suggestions?

Wire-rim color glasses, t-shirt preferably t-tied or with some kind of band on it, beads - small beads - they called them "love" beads, head band, jeans with patches sewn on them and worn out with the hem hanging. Sandals or go bare foot. There were alot of macrame or suede belts and suede purses. The purses were like a big pocket and if there was leather or suede fringe, all the better. Daisy in your hair would be icing on the cake. And any kind of peace sign emblem. Good luck sweetie and have a good time!

I was a hippie in 62 living in Sf before there were hippies. The media call use that came from Hip of the 50s generation and the society call use beatniks. My dad called me a lot of names. But the answer is we never wore those, other then wearing flowers that my gf made daisy chains. The hippie generation pretty started to die off long before '68 when drugs and violence got into part of. The bottom line we were run aways and did not want to live like the Donna Reed show. It was against the law to cut school and/or run away so was arrested many times from the truancy officers. In 1965 they gave me a choice to attend YA or cut my hair and have 24 hours of catching up with school. So by that time it and many others that came from Berkeley that joined us. Also a made a commune at Monte Rio and I was married by a hippie priest. We only protested because we got paid a $1.00 an hour so we can eat. Did not care what the reason was other then being so disrupted and known. Grass was legal too before the media picked it up. I used flowers to hold back my long hair from my face with clips, not bandannas. Then main thing was freedom of expression as our amendment right is what it was all about. The is what Woodstock was about was Freedom, even though was no longer a hippie.

Well speaking as a old hippie they didn't wear anything most of the time but this maybe not being a option try bell bottoms, tie die shirts, or anything with lots of flowers

girls wore their hair parted down the middle, I wore a flop-hat made out of psychedelic print, a peasant blouse (these were blouses with puffy sleeves with an elastic neckline so you could pull them down over your shoulders and your neck and shoulders would then be exposed), bell-bottom jeans (with peace sign patches if you can find them), platform shoes, and a small chain with a peace sign medallion. If it was in cold weather we would wear suede fringe jackets. A lot of the time I'd wear a green army shirt with peace signs on them. Watch Forrest Gump and look at what Jenny's wearing when she tripping out to the song "Free Bird". Good luck, sounds like fun.

I was one. It was a question of avoiding convention so whatever you wore didn't matter. However the general concensus was that you wore, from the head down, long hair parted in the middle (obviously depends what sex you were for the beard), any sort of top like a poncho, beads round your neck, long ones, bell bottom jeans and sandals (no socks). We used to say things like 'Hey man.' and 'Peace brother', don't know why but we did. Strangely enough I don't recall any of us causing any trouble and, despite popular belief we didn't do drugs. One or two did weed but not me. It made me sick. Oh, and don't forget the flowers. Wear one in your hair.

Basically rags,... but otherwise, un-washed jeans and lots of tie-dye. Chicks liked to tie thier blouses instead of buttoning them, they wore them like a halter top with sleeves.

I loved my long curly hair with skinny ribbons tied in the strands so they hung down with the curls.
I was always in love with dragons and unicorns, so I walked around looking like a well fare princess.
I bought every loose sleeved, peasant blouse, velvet skirt, cape, dangle earrings. I spent hours making hair wreaths from real and fake flowers.

I almost never wore jeans, I went in for the Asian Indian skirts, with my (Princess Wide Sleeved Blouses)

so beads, and ribbons and flowers, were my staples!
