I have Windows XP Prof., an I never heard of a registry cleaner coming with the program. You get a not so good Microsoft Defrag. to defrag, your registry.

This type of software is either free or purchased to clean and fix your registry.

You can go to "run", type in "regedit" and click on ok and this will open your registry. I don't suggest that you attempt to delete or fool with your registry on a manual basis. One mistake and you will have to reinstall your entire Windows XP Prof..

Are you sure that you don't have a virus in your system??. Have your run your antivirus and antispyware that you have in your system I hope?.

Are all of your Microsoft critical updates upto date. If not go to start and open Windows updates for them to scan your system and load all critical updates that your system may need for downloading.

Also reboot your system if you find a virus or microsoft may ask you with some critical updates for the to take affect.
