It depends on your car, is it a front wheel drive, is it a rear wheel drive, or is it a four wheel drive. If you have a front wheel drive, then you should be OK, except if you drive in the rain alot then you would need some tread on the back also. If you have a rear wheel drive then, I would not recommend it too much. Alot can go wrong in very little water. In a four wheel drive car you should be safe. Remember winter is coming and if you have snow in your area, then I really recommend some new tires.

Yeah dude, it matters alot. When you drive around a corner the rear end of the car wants to swing outward, and this is where good rear tread is crucial.
If you can't get new tires right now, what you oughtta do is have your tires rotated; that will help a bit. If your car is rear wheel drive and doesn't have positraction, than the dude who rotates your tires should know to put the good tread tire on the back right side, where the power is.
Better do it before one of those Vermont winters kicks in bro!

It just depends if you have rear wheel drive or front wheel drive.If you have rear wheel drive than yes it is vary impotent to get them changed.Even if they are not it it still good to get new tires,if it rains or snows bald tires can slip and make you slide around.

Yes! Yes! Yes! in matters. The rear end will slide out of control on wet or snow covered road. You need traction for road grip.
Even on dry roads your stopping distance will be reduced tremendously.

the front tires are crucial. its better to have a back tire blow out than a front tire but they should all have the same amount of treading.

well, as you are from VT you know you should have 4 good tires on your car. bur yes it does matter. the back tires help control the car if you have to slam on the brakes. so its good to have good tires all the way around
