I have a 30GB iPod Video. I checked my purchased items folder, and it includes three songs, two short (4 minute) videos, a 1 1/2 hour movie, and sixteen 44 minute television shows. The total space for all of these is 3.67 GB.
My entire library currently has 1,587 items (including all of the above) with a total space of 9.77 GB.
The number of movies or tv shows you can fit depends on what else you put on your iPod - music, pictures, games, etc. If you put ONLY movies on it, based on the numbers above, you could fit about 100 hours of video. A standard tv show is about 44 minutes, which takes up about .2GB (that's 'point' 2 GB - not '2' GB).
As far as watching the videos on that little screen, it's actually incredibly clear and detailed. I watch television shows all the time. Also, you CAN convert your own DVD's and put them on your iPod. You can buy a program for about $50 or you can download a couple of free programs that will do it in several steps.

So wait till the extra desirable and extra value-effective ones come out. I heard they have instantaneous and a super reveal! indexed under are whilst the ipod have been released via era: Ipod 1st: October 23, 2001 2d: July 2002 third: April 28, 2003 4th: July 2004 5th: September 2005 5th replace (a.ok.a 5.5): September 12, 2006 Ipod Nano 1st: September 2005 2d: September 2006 Do you spot a trend? Well filling up a 30gig with movies would be kind of a waste..since I doubt anyone would wanna spend 90+ min staring at that small screen..for tv shows you can put as many as you want. Although playing videos takes up more battery, so you might wanna have a charger around.
