Never read the book but I saw the movie. It has always been one of my favorites! It has Jodie Foster as the girl and she plays it great!
**In the movie, it was the landlady that the girl and her boyfirend got rid off. In the end, the girl killed off the perverted man. the landlady's son with poisoned tea. (smells just like almonds)...

I saw the movie,too,back in the 70s when Jodie Foster was just
a little girl. At the time I found it disturbing but compelling,like
watching a train wreck. It was well done but very creepy.
I never read the book but in the movie it wasn't the landlady's son
but the perverted neighbor up the street who they killed.
