I am a conservative. Raising the minimum wage is wrong. The government is interfering with free markets. If a job can pay $6 an hour, then that is what the job is worth. If you as a worker do not like the job, quit. If you do not like the company, do not work there. No one has the right to get paid what they want. They get what they are willing to work for and earn.

If you support an increase of the minimum wage, remember it is your policies that force jobs overseas. Cause and effect. I wish people got this.

The sad thing is I am the only one who has made an intelligent argument here. Most of you have no clue as to what raising it would do economically. NO ONE IS FORCED TO STAY AT A JOB. Get a clue people.

This creates a problem that a lot of working people do not understand. First, just looking at the raising of the minimum wage appears to be a good thing. However, when you look at all the other things that happens when the minimum wage goes up, it doesn't do a lot of good except for those receiving a raise. With safe guards in effect, raising the minimum wage would be okay, but without the proper safeguards, many businesses would hire less people to compensate for having to raise wages of their workforce. With America needing "GOOD" jobs, this is not the time to expect the good industrial base to have to pay for that raise. Many small businesses face this every time the minimum wage is increased. What we have seen over the last 20+ years is that the small business hire less and many increase the prices of their products, thereby eliminating any good a small raise may do. Now you tell me, if you were to get a 35 cent pay raise, but that pay raise causes the prices of everything to jump 2 cents, down the long haul, you really are not going to realize a big difference in your total yearly wages vs. expenditures.

Yes, but only for full time and permanent positions. The current wages are not enough for an unskilled person to live on or get ahead. However, young workers - like high school kids-should be able to get paid a lesser rate because, well, they're not supporting families or themselves, and will hopefully move beyond minimum wage paying jobs by going to college. Whether I am conservative or liberal is irrelevant.

As the inflation adjusted purchasing power of the minimum wage is at it's lowest point in a very long time and much of the economic growth that the company has experienced has failed to trickle down to lower wage brackets, then yes I think it'd be a very good idea. People shouldn't have to work multiple jobs just to be able to eat and pay the rent.

No leave it alone. it helps noone and hurts everyone else.when minimum wage goes up so do the prices of everything. and most people making above minimum wage will not get an increase and will end up making less than they were relativly. its a bad idea. I am an republican but i speak my mind on every situation.

Yes,I think the minimum wage should be raised but isn,t it funny that the dem,s who say they want a higher wage, killed the latest bill that the republicans put forward just before the mid-turm elections. are these people really on the side of the working man or just using us as pawns in their game. i am a republican and we work also.

Yes, because money is the source of all evil and the businesses have too much of it. Wars are being started and people are dying. Also, they're destroying our enviornment because we allow them to go crazy and do whatever they want. Every year gets hotter and hotter, people will start dying in the heat. But of course, the republicans deny global warming exists *rolls eyes*

Also, people on minimum wage have very hard lives and no one should ever live in poverty. We are the strongest naiton on the planet and we can't even give our citizens a good living? Kick these conservative assholes out of office in November!

I'm a liberal voter along with my wife.

I think we should raise the minimum wage and lower the maximum wage. People crab that Walmart workers want better pay, when the new Ford CEO just got a $2 million sign-on bonus.
