I have to say that in a th between Vegeta and Superman, the winner would be Vegeta, and he won't hesitate in killing Superman once and for all.
All Vegeta has to do is one of signiture techniques: Big Bang Attack, or how about Gunlic Gun, or Final Flash and Superman will be gone as well as Earth or the planet they are fighting on. He doesn't even need to go SSJ, but form what I know him, he will do it just to show off and show Superman that the chances of beating him are slim to none.
Sorry guy, the DBZ characters have too much power to be compared with anyone else, and when i say too much power I mean destoying the universe would be like taking candy form a baby, as well as the Other World (Heaven & Hell and everything else).

No, no way. Vegeta's powerful, yes. But Superman... He doesn't have powers, he invents them. Whenever a challenge comes along he'll haul out a brand-new power that he uses to easily defeat whatever baddie was gunning after him. (Except if it's Darkseid, then he gets his ____ handed to him) If he and Vegeta went toe to toe Superman would just reveal that he has "super-sayain beating breath", or something of the sort, and the fight would be over immediately. Keep in mind that he'd never use that power again in the comic's continuity.

O_O, I don't believe the thought ran throught your mind that a non dbz character could contend with a saiyan, nonetheless Vegeta. I'll give props to supes that he has beaten a lot of notorious enemies. Braniac, Doomsday, etc but I'm pretty sure hes never faced anyone relatively near Vegeta's caliber. It's been settled a long time amongst Otakus that you should never compare anyone ((not even god)) because the result will inevitably be that the dragon ball character will win, the only thing that can defeat a dbz character is another dbz character.
