Ob the answer of lincoln is wrong. I am a yank. The south ceded themselves from the us or the union as we call it at times. each state is admitted to the union by a vote of the people and congress.

The south wanted to keep the blacks as slaves for their huge plantations. The rest of the US had wanted to abolish slavery. Look up abolishionist. Many people runaway slaves where given refugee in the North as the southerns called the rest of the us and some fled to the city of Hamilton Ont.

The us had war as a result and all men are now free in the usa.

John Brown's raid
On October 16, 1859, the radical abolitionist John Brown led a small group of followers in a raid on the Arsenal. Brown attacked and captured several buildings; he hoped to use the captured weapons to initiate a slave uprising throughout the South. However, he and his men were quickly pinned down by local citizens and militia, and forced to take refuge in the fire house adjacent to the arsenal. On October 18, U.S. Marines were sent via train to Harpers Ferry.[1] Under the command of Colonel Robert E. Lee, they stormed the fire house and killed or captured most of the raiders. Brown was tried for treason by the State of Virginia, convicted, and hanged in nearby Charles Town. The failed raid was a major catalyst in accelerating the slide to Civil War. Brown was successfully prosecuted by Andrew Hunter, who would later appear on the same stage in Harpers Ferry with

talk bout the bicameral legislature. also talk bout why the bicameral was chosen two people per state and then house of reps based on populatin within that state. That was the connecticut compromise i think. The comproimise was between NJ and Virginia. This will b helpful. I also think bout taxing. The north had rules on that. Same with the 3/5 clause and all taht. so yeah.

When Lincoln marched troops on Americans he acceded to the idea that the South was independent of USA. After the war, the Reconstruction was actually the plundering and rape of the Southern States. That's what they called "reconciliation".
