liquid is always the way to go.Powder leaves residue in your washer and stains on your clothes,while liquid is bio-degradable,never stains clothes,and if you spill some, wipe your washer and dryer off right then,and liquid wont be a problem.

I use liquid as we have a septic tank, the powder gunked up the outlet into the septic tank and when we had it repaired the guy that fixed the problem recommended that with a septic tank I should use liquid, same with dishwasher detergent.

I only use liguid. It was recommended by the guy I have to hire every once in a while to clean the floor drain in my basement that the washer empties into.

Personally I like liquid as it is already dissolved and wont leave spots on my clothes by not being dissolved.
