When I go to control panel/add & remove programs, the only McAfee thing present is called McAfee Uninstaller. It looks like a no-brainer.

But they say McAfee has up to 300 registers that have to be unchecked by hand. Would you have advice how to do this.

Do I have to open the hidden files?

Do I have to be in Safe Mode since internet connection will not be operating?

Also have Windows Defender on board. Is this easy to uninstall? And how to do?

Any other advice about uninstall?

First go to control Panel and try to uninstall there, then go to search files and type the name in there and delete there. Go to download.com and download (cc cleaner) (free) and follow the directions for scanning issues it should clean up any left overs. I don't think safe mode can hurt, but you usually need that for deleting spy ware and stubborn viruses. BTW you shouldn't need the Internet for this, if you have problems deleting Mcafee, which has been known to happen you may have to go to there website for further instructions. Peace!
