Good question.
The direct answer is that the legislature, who creates laws (judges and police only interpret the law), has not yet effectively taken into account the logic problem you describe.
The public policy answer is that legislatures react to their publics, so the laws reflect what people have been most vocal about. If there was an outcry for a revision, then it might happen, were that outcry to grow large enough.

Just put it this way, killing someone and having sex with someone is two different things. Yes, there are many people out who have been or are still dating a minor knowing what the consequences are. It's true that it takes both the minor and the adult's decision to make the relationship evolve into a sexual one, but if someone under the age of 18 is having a relationship with an adult and it's the adult's first time ever getting prosecuted how much time can he/she really get if it's their first offense. Of course depending on the depth of the realtionship there can be serious problems. But when you talk about killing someone then of course they deserve to be tried as an adult because taking someone's life away isn't okay or a good thing. Also, you can't bring the deceased back. Both of these topics are considered two different things. You cannot really relate them together, well at least not in a good way. I also agree with you that there are a lot of laws that are messed up and unfair because believe me I've experienced them. I'd rather not see people murder other people because no one deserves to die, and adults sometimes take advantage of minors. So I guess there's pros and cons in both of these topics.

If a child under the age of 18 tries to enter into a contract is is not considered legal. The adult involved is punished for attempting to commit a crime.
If a child kills an adult the punishment is applicable to an adult punishment because the adult involved must have justice. The child is punished for committing a crime against an adult.
If an adult over 18 chooses to commit a sex act with someone under that age then it is considered rape. The law is not concerned with whether the underage person concented or understands what they have done, it is concerned with the fact that the adult involved broke the law.

Underage citzens are not treated as adults in the courts. Have you ever heard of an underage muderer getting the lethal injection? No, of course not. There are many cases where ,if they were adults, minors would be punished much more severly if the were over eighteen.

There should be a universal age threshold in this country for everything: sex, military service, drivers license, alcohol consumption, voting, buying tobacco, entering contracts, being punished for violent crimes, etc, etc, etc.
It would have nothing to do with individual maturity level, with no sundry exceptions, loopholes, etc. Not everything in life can be custom tailored to every single individual, especially those things that are forced on you (regulations). If you reach the legal age and aren't mature, so what? There are people in their 40's that aren't mature.
All the variations in these myriad ages can only produce ponderous contradictions.

It's Americas F@#$%d up morals. And yes your question has already happened numerous times. Look at Iraq. I'm a Marine and will give my life in your defense of OUR way of life. Iraq is BS because America wants to put our way of life on another country. Which is Moraly wrong. how would you feel if iraqis came over here and started forcing us to live like them which is what we are doing. c what i mean.
