STOP ALREADY! Ask how to do it or for advice NOT ANSWERS!

As for help with this problem.... think of it in terms of a number line! If you start on a POSITIVE 5 (moving 5 spaces to the right of 0) and take away 7 (move 7 places to the left)... Where do you end up? You will end up at -2 (negative 2 or two spaces to the LEFT of 0)....

Basically... if you are subtracting a larger number from a smaller one... you know that you will end up with a negative number.

So, flip the numbers, add the numbers after placing a negative sign in front of the now first number!

( - 439.87 + 234.15) commutative property of addition (even with negative numbers - it works.)

234.15 - 439.87 = $ - 205.72 (Negative $ 205.72)
