I guess that's true. At least you won't be making enemies by spreading gossip or saying things that annoy other people. You might try just a bit harder to be friendly, but you shouldn't have to change your personality. Maybe you should just realize that no matter who you are, or where you go, there are going to be people who don't like you. That goes for everybody. Just be happy with yourself, and don't worry about who likes you and who doesn't.

yeah in some ways I can be like that when I want.normally when I find a person like you though I try as hard as I can to get you to talk which in the end I normally get my own way with that. Your right about if your doing your job and don't need to talk if there is no reason or any need too.I guess you maybe a bit shy or something but that doesn't class you as being weird. Gossip can be harmfull so I rearly take part in any of that,so that's one bonus for you, sometimes I feel the same and don't want to change what I'm doing (if I'm happy, who should care what I do?) So then there is no problem unless your depressed which if you are asking this question can make it questionable and if that case you may need to see a councilor otherwise there is no problem.
hope this helps in some way.

Don't worry about not "chit-chatting" with everyone in the office. Half the time it's about each other and you'll end up getting mixed up in a mess the way they do and the jokes are never clean either so, you fine being quiet and people will respect you for that anyway.

i pretty much always had the same problem. I had no desire to discuss last night's inane tv shows or cackle at smutty jokes. Eventually you will find your niche. A lot of the time, you would probably be surprised that they kinda like you anyway just the way you are. Hang in there it does get better. Just be yourself :)

there's nothing odd about being the strong silent type, in fact, one of my new years resolutions for 2007 is to talk less. this is a good thing that you're quiet, it's better to be quiet and be thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I agree with what the first 4 people said but I also wonder why you are quiet.
are you very shy?
do you have a speech impediment?
Is your English not good?
If you are happy with being the quiet guy it shouldn't bother you so much.

Yeah people always see quiet people as weird unless they are quiet as well. So either try to break out of your shell or just accept it.

There's no problem. Never change who you are for anybody. So what if they think you're weird? You're not there to win a popularity contest; you're there to work!

yeah, I think so. Sometimes too quiet will make people weird. But that's what make you you.

weird...no way!!the only reason they think of you as weird is because they feel intimidated by your silence.people fear what they don't know.so long as you doing your job and you respond when spoken to then you should pay them no mind!!!
