when I turn it on my treo 650, after a few seconds the device performs a soft reset and turns the phone off. The Treo will then turn on the phone automatically and when the same soft reset keeps happening again and again.......

it's not a battery problem and it's not a button that's stuck. Treo recognizes this a problem for some of it's devices and has subsequently released new firmware to resolve the issue. It will also improve your devices' bluetooth performance. If your provider is Cingular, go to http://www.palm.com/cingularupdate . Follow the directions closely, and you'll be golden. Good luck.

Your reset button is stuck... but maybe you need to do a hard reset to get the OS back to default setup... your OS maybe corrupt..
