This Equation can represent the philosophy that "The Truth is that the Whole could be Greater Than the Sum of its Parts", some examples of this "Truth" are:

-marriages
-the results of synergy
-the value of houses (add the value of each piece of wood, etc....they don't add up to the total value)
-your soul (ancient philosophy)
-general positive outlook on life.

Have you ever taken trigonometry in school before, my dear. Have you not heard of the right triangle properties in trig. you should. See if you can remember this. If anything at all, my dear, 5 should be the length of the hypothenuse. Ring the bell yet. What you just mention is that you are assuming two sides of a triangle has equal length, provided that the triangle is a right triangle. Then A^2 + B^2 = C^2 (^ = square), good enough, yes?

Well, all the numbers and signs are all creations of mathematics, but you can reinvent their meaning. Maybe in an invented language, "2 + 2 = 5" means "a truth".......

If you used a math system where the base number is 1.25 and not 1. Then your numbers would look like this:

1.25 2.5 3.75 5.0 6.25 etc.

As pointed out mathematics is based on what society accepts. If we had only 4 fingers our math system would probably be based on 8 and not 10.

In my mind it would be the same way that 1 + 1 = 3 .... but i also would submit that since math is the creation of humankind, it stands to reason that the rules are as malleable as the creation.
