Greensleeves is a good tune. The band I play bass in has been trying to rock it up a bit but were never satisfied with the various results....can't fix it if it's not broke ! LOL

I've heard several times that it was actually written by King Henry VIII.
Neil Young did a beautiful version of the song for Christmas.

Sounds good as a piano solo, can also sound good as a guitar solo. Would probably sound best when played with old fashioned string instruments like the mandolin and lute.

Great song. Did you know the words?
King Henry's wife, she gave him dirt,
When she sewed green sleeves on his yellow shirt.
Even better now, huh?

Yes it sounds okay. I like it both without and with words. (Another name for it is "What child is this?)
