ok here's another math thing.
What is the difference in altitude between Mt. Everest, which is about 29,028 ft above sea level, and Death Valley, which is about 282 ft below sea level? [["subtracting real numbers" or "subtracting integers" or whatever]]

Well sea level would be 0, so you would consider Death Valley at 282 ft below sea level to be -282 ft. So take Mt. Everest - Death Valley and you get the difference.
29028 ft - (-282 ft) = 29310 ft difference.
When subtracting a negative number it is the same as adding the positive of it.

29028 - (-282)
29028 + 282
29310 feet
Makes sense, doesn't it? The difference is the height of Mt. Everest, plus the additional distance from Death Valley to sea level.

above sea level means that it would be a positive number, below sea level means it's a negative number so you have 29028 and -282 so you have to subtract it so you would have 29028-(-282) when you subtract you need to change the signs so you have it plus a positive and your answer comes out to be...29310

29028-(-282)= 29028 +282=2931
when there are two negative signs next two each other,-(-, the minus automatically changes to a + and the answer is positive.
its integers. 282 is 282 steps away from zero. then you still gotta go to 29082 more steps. i hope it helps and if it doesn't, try making a number line. good luck.
