if i even spelled culprit right, make fun of me if i didn't. so i have a 1989 dodge omni that's having a problem getting up to speed quickly. when you step on the gas it doesn't just jump up and go it kind of feels weak and goes how it pleases until it gets past about 25-35 then it hauls ***. i realize that there's a HUGE amount of things that could be affecting that but i'd kind of just like to get a few ideas so i can pin point it. there will be many more questions from me about it because it's my first project car. You can see it here at cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2457469 . But if anyone has any ideas as to what it is feel free to answer! Thank you!

yes yes it's '89 omni...i found that out when i read that ad on craigslist but thanks for telling me again! acutally, i'm currently driving an '87 aries that can accelerate pretty fast....can't give a good number but i'd guess maybe up to 40 in five seconds? but thanks to the other people who gave reasonable answers. haha.

well i dont know a whole lot about cars however it could just have something to do with the way the car is geared. and there may also be something wrong with the accelerator. i think it could also be the fact that there isn't enough weight in the back and too much in the front so it just isn't getting any traction.

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR or TPS. Often the culprit when it hesitates until it gets to a higher speed. Oh yeah... that, and... um... IT'S AN 89 OMNI, DUDE!
