I believe that they have a lot of oil wells down there, and there are a lot of business men who have their business down there because they don't have a State Income Tax, if I am not mistaken. So, they get their buddies to vote Republican, and they get their "hired help" to vote Republican, so that they can keep status quo...

Republicans are the majority party in MOST states. Why should Texas be any different?

Democrats are in the majority in some states with large urban populations, many of those with SERIOUS urban problems.

It's Gerrymandered (arranging districts so Republicans are in the majority) very well. It is naturally Rep (southern, large rural areas, and a large born again population) but it's been helped by the gerrymandering.

They used to be Democrat, but switched to Republican beginning in the mid 60's when Johnson and the northern Democrats pushed through federal legislation to give blacks equality and the vote in the South. This is just an historical fact.

"On the night he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson said to his aide, Bill Moyers, "I think we just delivered the South to the Republican Party for a long time to come."

Don't mess with the Rebublic of Texas. No insult Texans. Isn't that what it used to be called?

But contrary to popular belief, not everyone in Texas is a Republican. I don't think they are yet praying to a statue of dubbbedya.(Yet)

Because TX is made up of strong hard working people.
Unlike the Yankee North East which is made up of rich upper class elite, and non-working welfare people.
That's why the Yankees are so much Democrat.
