Strange, but true--the LP soundtrack of "The Guns of Navarone"!
I had read the book, then the movie came out with several of my favorite actors in it. When I heard the soundtrack had been released I went to the Newsroom ( a small store that sold newspapers, records, penny candy, magazines), but it was a little beyond my budget at the time (I was 15). I would get almost enuf saved and something would happen where I needed the money more than a record album. And I stopped every day on the way home to see if it was still there.
Finally!! I had enuf money! I stopped on my way home from school!! The record was gone!! Gone! Gone! And there had only been the one copy. I was broken hearted and I sulked all the way home!
When I got home, I went in the side door and up the stairs to the kitchen. The door at the top of the stairs was locked. My mother called from the other side "Hold on! I have the ironing board in the way!" Soon the door opened and just as I stepped inside I heard it! Dadadada, dada dadadada!!
God bless her! My mom had gone up that day to buy it for me cuz I was having such a hard time getting enuf money for it.
That is my most sentimental thing!
Dang, now I have tears in my keyboard!

My late mother gave me a small box wrapped in beautiful silver paper and tied with a blue ribbon. She said it contained all her love and I was never to open it or the love inside would escape. My mother died a few years later, and I've never opened the little box, i just keep it as my most treasured gift.

It's a paper plate from when I had a picnic with my mother who had recently visited her father's grave in France where he was killed during the war. On the plate she wrote the address of the war cemetry in France . She too has now died but I hope to visit the grave of my grandfather written on the paper plate one day.

When I was 13 my gran gave me a china girl sat at a piano that played a tune. She thought it was nice but at 13 years old, I didn't. I thanked her and said it was lovely even though, at that age I didn't mean it , but now it's one of the most precious things I have.

A little bone china Siamese cat figure. It was given to me when I was about 6 or7 years old, by a boy who was moving from my village. I've had it for about 36 years now.

I've kept the t-shirt, jeans and socks that my son wore on the day that we adopted him. He was 5-years old on that day, and he was besotted with anything having to do with He-Man. He-Man t-shirt and socks. I'll treasure those three items of clothing forever.

My first teddy bear- my father bought it on the way to visit me and my mom in the hospital when I was born.
He was a proud papa who on the second day, was already spoiling his new daughter.
