Doctors say about 6 months, introduce them to solid food. Just soft ones at first like rice cereal...

I have three children and I stared them all on rice cereal at 4 months old. I would mix about 1-2 tablespoons of cereal with formula to make a very thin consistency (almost liquid). Usually at this young age your teaching the baby to eat from a spoon and hes experiencing new tastes. Most of the cereal will be spit back out until he gets the hang of it. I would do each variety of cereal (rice, oatmeal, and barly) for about a week. Then at 5 months old I introduce veggies... one kind for 4 days and then fruit after that (the same). Now my son is almost 6 months and he has a lil cereal and a jar of fruit and a bottle at breakfast, a bottle and a jar of veggies for lunch and before bed some more cereal with a bottle.

6 months according to doctors but it can be as early as 4 months....if they can sit in the seat, hold head up, makes chewing actions, putting things in mouth, or jusr watching your food they are ready....it's not like you are giving chunks of food....just follow the feeding charts on cereals, then move to veggies and fruits then meats and pasta....my baby is eight months and eats everything but dairy, honey and nuts
if you wait too long after they are ready they might not want to anymore so keep an eye out for the signs from 4 months but definatey start at 6 months
when you do start solids introduce new foods a week apart to detect food allergies...now enjoy doing more laundry that ever b4 :)

You are probably going to get a lot of different answers here about that one (as you can see already). The guideline is usually between 4-6 months, breastfed babies 6 months. Once you start noticing that he needs more food, good indication of this is when he starts to wake in the night for feedings when he didn't use to. Having interest, trying to grab what you're eating...
They're stomach's are so small, that I wouldn't rush into the solids as it is linked to food allergies later.

You can try cereal from a spoon at 4mths.Solids at 6mths.I really would'nt start before then.My doctor said they don't need the sugars in baby food or juice until 6mths.It is not good for a little baby.Remember try one food at a time for 3days until adding a new one so that if your baby has an allergic reaction you will know what food did it.

It depends on the child. When mine were young, the advice given by professionals then was three months old, but nowadays, it is 4-6 months.
My children are grown up and are fit and healthy, so if your baby is hungry, then there is no reason not to start him off with a little rusk or baby rice.
Enjoy your baby, he won't be little for long!

Talk to your doctor. If you start solids too early your child could develop allergies...especially if allergies run in the family. It's been so long since mine were little I don't remember when we started them on baby food...but I think they were around 4 or 6 months...

4-6 months you start to introduce 1 new food at a time starting with baby cereal then fruits and veggies you add one at a time so you can catch any allergies your baby may have to certain foods...make sure that the food is not to think as they can not chew yet

i fed all mine around 3 months just a teaspoon of thin rice with their baby milk and he will let you know if he liked it
then maybe a month later try baby fromage frais or some thing else like rusk really well mixed with milk
my kids are all fit and well no allergies
also most health warnings apply to 3rd world countries that have disease so it is safer to feed just milk
good luck and prepare to get messy !
