I worked in Iraq for 18 months as a civilian contractor. We too were always exposed to IEDs, mortar and rocket attacks and other dangers. During the convoys I took we were hit 7 times by IEDs killing 5 people, all civilians.
Like many o the DoD civilians in Iraq I am ex-military and being a target, being shot at is nothing new. But it still isn't any fun. I have dozens of photos I took of the burned out vehicles, the trucks shattered by shrapnel and so on.
I have not seen the videos you mention... but the key to survival as a contractor there is to always...always travel with a military or private security escort. After about 50-60 overland convoys my company stressed that we travel my Blackhawk, C130, C23 or C17 aircraft. It did make it alot less tense. Although flying over Tikrit or Baghdad at 1500 feet (well within rocket & RPG) range did have it's moments.

Yes. What I'd like to know is where is their gratitude? Didn't we bring them Halliburton? Haven't we gotten rid of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians who otherwise would have been in competition for the food, money, water and housing that is in such short supply since we invaded? Are they so narrow-minded that they can't love us when we show every possible disrespect for Islam? Haven't we shown them how to fix elections so the results come out the way Bush wants them, just like we have in our own country? They're just a bunch of ingrates. They don't deserve the sacrifices we selflessly make for them. Yes, we should just leave their country to them and see how they like it. Or maybe we should set up a secret prison in Mexico and ship them all there where we could torture them indefinitely. Yeah, then they'd think of yesterday as the good old days. One last thing: eventually we could release all of the Iraqis we imprison there so they could become migrant workers in Mexico.

"I believe we should withdraw all our troops. The evil republicans have fought an evil war. We should let the Iraquis pick up their countries peices with trillions of our taxpayers money." Actually before we give them the money we oughtta send them a nuke raindown. If anyone is still alive we should give him $1,000 for surviving. Of course nuclear radiation disquallifies. Then when we are done we can deport all the retarded hippies in the U.S. over there to work for the first time.

Your point is what? That is a daily occurrence though almost always one tribe killing another tribe. It's hell. Clearly we should bomb the hell out of the place unless the three tribes agree to break the country into three equal parts.
We dropped the A-bomb on Japan twice and it stopped the war and saved tens of thousands of lives.
We bombed Germany into rubble and that ended that part of WWII.
Subsequently Germany and Japan became our allies.

I'm glad I missed that news event, but I think we the American people need to see the horror not just hear about it, so we will wake up to reality! A call for WAR is a call for DEATH & DISTRUCTION... Lest we forget!

It's crazy beyond belief over there. The bad part is, we probably haven't seen the worst of it yet. Wait till Bush bombs Iran.
