I've noticed that on my computer at work (a Pentium 4 from Dell) that the CPU fan will speed up whenever CPU usage goes up and stays fairly high for more than a second or so. Inherently this in nothing unusual and is in fact a good thing, since it prevent the computer from overheating. It may simply be that after being on for a while your computer is detecting that it's getting warm — some computers can do this but not all — and is speeding up the fan to help cool itself. If your only using it for browsing the Internet and word processing, spread sheets etc. these applications generally don't require as much use of the CPU and from my own experience don't cause the CPU fan to speed up. So it's possible that there is some other application that is causing this. I know anti-virus software will do this when scanning, and there are many other applications that could be doing this. If you haven't already, and to be on the safe side I would recommend that you run a virus scan and download and run an anti-spyware program such as Ad-Aware SE or Spybot - Search & Destroy. It may not find anything but it's best to play it safe.

Well, its possible the fan is just dirty and only makes noise after it gets warmed up. Is this PC 6 months old are did you get it from someone else? Its also possible your temperature sensors (built-in to your motherboard) are faulty... you'd have to replace your mobo to fix that but a fan being on all the time wouldn't damage your PC though.

Absolutely normal. Chances are that your fan was always on but now you can hear it. When you first purchased your computer, all the moving parts were well lubricated. However, as time passed, dust and other debris were deposited on the fan and other computers components. As a result the fan started to make noise. You can purchase a can of compressed air to clean your computer.

frequently this variety of fan putting will be addressed through: - replacing a putting contained in the BIOS (frequently lower than power administration); or - allowing the computing gadget's motherboard administration application to run, and employing it to enable the alternative for fan-continually-on. For the latter, you could favor to position in the motherboard's software suite. The call and placement of this suite or application will decision in accordance to diverse producers. at the same time as I renowned this would nicely be extra of a discomfort than you want, you'll locate that you'll enable the putting and then uninstall the suite perfect after, without different sick outcomes.

yep. Maybe, could be. depends upon the make and model of computer. You could try asking your question the smart way, by telling us what make and model it is, how you're using it.... This would be "BAD" for a Mac PRO or a MAC G5... It would indicate a problem... IF it were a MAC...
