My husband and I went to Puerto Vallarta and stayed at Velas Vallarta in the Marina section; it's minutes from the PVR airport.

Even though it's the rainiest season, the mountains surround the resort so if it does rain, it is brief. The resort has an umbrella service that you can use from lobby to other areas because it has a beautiful open concept.

EVERYTHING was great.. I highly recommend getting the All Inclusive. Room service 24 hrs; food 24 hrs and the food was awesome - gourmet menu with steak, lobster, shrimp, caviar - choose from the menu or buffet or both; no limits on ANYTHING.

Top shelf alcohol and top notch service. The facilities clean and friendly/accommodating staff that really work hard to make you feel welcome. You are told that tipping is even included. The fridge in your room can be requested to be restocked daily (included in the plan) with bottled waters, beer, juice, milk, jam, butter - - along with your basket that has bread, chips, popcorn, variety of cereals and snacks.

They have HBO channels so if you do feel like watching a movie there was lots on TV too!

Food themes daily, activities, children's schedule as well.

Also.. if you email the resorts reservations dept after booking they'll send you a link for free resort pickup at the airport. They'll have a VIP waiting and rush you into an air-conditioned office at the airport as soon as you clear customs. They will offer you bottled water and a ride to the resort.

You will be well cared for - we'll be definitely returning.... mind you we travelled from 09/15 to 09/22.. need to save more pesos!

Check out their web page via http://www.velasvallarta.com

adios!

My last vacation was Bali (Indonesia). The flight there is costly, but once you get there.... you're in heaven and life is very cheap if you are not over demanding. Nice clean hostels and hotels in all possible price ranges, great food for less than 50ct, good swim, great surf, friendly people, fine shopping and the island is sooooooo beautiful!!!

I hit the brick to find another job... It just so happened that the week before I was thinking of taking vacation, the cooperate office decided to seriously "downsize" our office. Several people got pink-slipped. ::ouch::

A couple of months later the office was permanently closed.
