Sleeping is normal at this age. Your baby is getting adjusted to life and her surroundings. Your baby will only eat when she is hungry, so as long as she's taking her food, she's in the clear! Sounds like a perfect Angel!

No this is not to much. Let them get all the sleep they can!!! Trust me they will make it up to you soon enough! When my son was about 6 weeks he started sleeping through the night and would sleep at least 2-4 hours after each bottle. Now he is 6 months old and dont want to sleep very often.
My doc said if they are hungry they will let you know. Trust me on this. There is no need to wake the baby up to feed her. More than likely she will fall asleep while eating if you do this. She should of had a check up recently. Was she at a normal weight? If so then dont try to wake her up. Let her sleep and when she wakes up she will let you know when its time to eat!

Your baby is fine. She is probably making up for when she had colic. And also completely normal for a 5 week old baby to sleep most of the day. You will notice her staying awake a little bit more and a little bit more everyday. Even if it is only 5-10 minutes more. But from what I understand from the information that you gave. She will be just fine.

My son is 3 months old and he did the same thing for basically the first two months. We started putting about 2 teaspoons of plain rice cereal in his bottle after he was 8 weeks old and that helped him to sleep a little better at night. He had colic too... He's on soy formula, Humphry's colic drops (available at Walgreens), and gas drops. I promise it will get better as she gets older and her digestive system matures. I can remember feeling the same fears you are experiencing with my first son. I thought something must be wrong because all he does is sleep... But it's perfectly normal, so you can relax.

attempt analyzing healthful Sleep behavior, happy infant. you would be surprised at how immediately issues exchange. I completely breastfeed and my son has been snoozing in direction of the nighttime considering he became 6 weeks old. he's sound asleep via 8:30 or 9 and would not awaken for 9 hours to feed, then he sleeps yet another 3. This e book is a entire lifesaver and each little thing in it is so worry-free sense. *edit* there is easily some thing to what the long-winded poster is saying. My son additionally falls asleep on his own, in no way in my palms, and that's between the transformations I made real earlier he started snoozing in direction of the nighttime. i understand it is not a nicely-liked answer because of the fact all of us desire to cuddle our toddlers, yet thier sleep cycles are lots distinctive than ours and would desire to be dealt with in a distinctive way.

She should be a little more awake by this time I have a 7 month old boy and when he was five weekd old he was more awake then anything. But it's different for all babies. Try to keep her awake when she wakes up and then you should not have to worry about her sleeping too much.

I think it sounds perfectly normal. My daughter pretty much spent the entire first 6 weeks sleeping, with small intervals of being awake in between.

its not that the baby gets too much sleep. every baby sleeps at different rates and differnt times you shouldn't be so concerned. if you go to the hospitial it will cost you an arm and a leg. so your best bet is to call and ask for advioce of you think there might be further complications. oh you are very lucky soon you will be wishing that she sleeps as much as she does now.

The only time sleeping too much is a concern is if they choose sleep over food....and will lose weight or have a low number of wet diapers.
Sleep=brain and body growth!!! They can only work on those things while asleep!

My baby does the same thing. I was worried too because she slept all night since the time I brought her home from the hospital. It is just fine. I asked the doctor and he said to just check a couple of times to make sure she is breathing. I LOVE it. I wouldn't worry
