There are several different meanings of the term "Orientalism" --do you mean Orientalism in art, literature, philosophy??--do you mean Orientalism as the opposite of Occidentalism?? Are you referring to the book "Orientalism" by Edward Said?
I think your best move would be to have a look at the Wikipedia article -- it discusses different aspects of Orientalism.

Orientalism DESCRIBES characteristics or REFERS to them. It does not POSSESS characteristics.
