I started just before I turned 12, but that may be a bit too young. I'd say that the best age to start wearing makeup would be just before turning 13. Maybe a little after turning 13, to stay on the safe side. But even then, just light eyeshadow, maybe a little eyeliner, and lip gloss. But that's just my opinion. -Nod-

Well, for me...I allowed my daughter to wear mascara, lip gloss and a light bronzer when she was in 7th grade. By 8th grade, she added eyeliner and light eyeshadow. I do believe that it depends on the maturity level of the girls, and what their intention is behind wearing the makeup. I asked mine why she wanted to wear the makeup before I allowed her to. Her response was that she had tried a little bit at a friends house, and that she wanted to enhance her features.
Now, had she said something like " 'cause I wanna look hot" or..."everyone else is doing it"...I might have changed the rule. I think it's best not to allow anything (clothing, makeup, etc) promote the pushing of our girls to look or play the roles of grown up women...while they are too young to have grown into that role.
I embrace anything that boosts the confidence of my teen daughter, as long as it's done in moderation, for the right reasons, and is age and stage appropriate.
By the way?
I think some of the best cosmetics out there are the bare minerals. (they now sell over the counter mineral makeup in stores everywhere). They are great for the girls skin...and rather than coming off like a mask or theatrical sort of looks- it's very natural and really does enhance without being overdone!

:)

i would say 12-13.
i just started wearing makeup and im 12.
still, there arent that many people in my grgaded that wear it.
it really depends on what age you think is right.
are a lot of people in your grade wearing makeup?
if your like 12, dont wear a lot.
as you get older it becomes more appropriate.
if you have any other questions, id be happy to answer them!!

i think you should at least start wearing make up at either 13 or 14. 12 years old and below is kind of too young and not wearing make up to highschool is unnatural.

junior high....but I would limit it to mascara and lip gloss...and if they have bad skin some base and powder is good to cut down on the embarrassment of acne....but limit it at that so the little girls don't look too old or trashy...that's when you will start having a problem with older men

at 11-13 just lipgloss is cute AND THATS IT. and at like 14-16 mascara, blush, and lipgloss. and after that you can go crazy with the make up and make yourself look all ready for a party lol.
