good heavens! if you are cut badly enough to need stitches, your mom should not be waiting for your dad to get home!!!
The doctor will numb the area that needs stitching, and then will sew you up, no problem, and a tetanus shot is no big deal...just get your cut taken care of asap.

It will hurt a LOT less than your hand does!

Relex, I just got mine 2 hours ago, and I didn't feel a thing. I honestly didn't think that she did it. Your arm will hurt a little while after for a few days, but its worth it. You don't want to get tetanus, which would really hurt.

Do this: when the doctor is getting ready, take a deep breath. When she is about to give you the shot, and when she still is, breath out like you are blowing out candles. It works like a charm and the shot won't hurt a bit!

And the anticipation is making it worse. If you sit there, waiting for torture, you will get tense and the shot will probably hurt more. So try to forget about it, and think about something else. And, when you get there, try listening to an iPod or CD player is you have one. Or you can call a friend, or talk to your parents.

Good luck, I hope you feel better!

I had the side of my face cut and I had to get stitches. They put something on it so you don't feel a thing. (thank Goodness!!) But it's a little freaky to see a Doctor with a needle. I really don't think you'll need a tetanus shot but that's up to your doctor! Just be careful next time and I hope you get better!!

i have had stitches two times. All they do is put numbing stuff on the cut, then give you a numbing shot(you cant feel it b/c of the numbing gel they put on it) then they do the stitches. you dont feel a thing. You may not have to get a tetnis shot, if you didnt get cut by something really rusty then you wont have to get one! Good luck! They arent so bad, at least they arent on your face like i had when i was younger!

Oh come on, kid, you will live. No, you need a tetanus vaccination. And if you need stitches in your hand how are you typing this on the keyboard? Rhetorical. I am dubious.
