People tend to use that term for when a white person is being discriminated against by a black person. The United ***** College Fund and Affirmative Action both practice reverse discrimination.

Reverse discrimination was basically a tag line used some groups when they want to talk about things they think are discriminatory toward White people (with a leaning toward men).
A lot of the time the things complained about ended up over things that where put in place to end dicrimination for other groups.
I am not sure why if they want to say something is discrimination they would add reverse infront of it since it would really mean that it is opposite of discrimination.
Though giving that much of the time the term is used it is against things that where set up to end discrimination. so maybe the term fits

Examples- Discrimination- A company refuses to hire a woman solely because she's a woman. Reverse discrimination- A company hires a woman solely because she's a woman, while passing up male candidates who may be more qualified. Google affirmative action for more info.

It implies that the one normally discriminated against (black, jew, woman, gay) shows prejudice and bigotry towards the type that would usually oppress them even if the individual were kind and accepting of them such as if a gay man were to show bigotry and hatred to straight people just because they are straight or a jewish person discriminating against all christians. I do agree that the term *reverse discrimination* is misleading because discrimination is - after all - what it is

a good example of reverse discrimination is when caucasian people are discriminated against, for instance when an African- American is given a job over a Caucasian person because of the color of his skin.
It's called reverse because apparently its the caucasians who are the discriminators over the other races in America for hundreds of years

It doesn't have to be in purely legal terms, when I went to highschool the black kids wouldn't let the white kids sit in the back of the bus because it was viewed as the "cool" place to sit...and I don't recall ever seeing them out in fields picking cotton, society and culture is teaching them that white people are the enemy, so reverse discrimination results.

It's when Caucasian ("white") people feel they are being discriminated against because of their race (or ethnicity). This practice often masquerades, in legal form, as "affirmative action."
