Because here in the US it takes an act of congress to get the trouble brats out of the class room. This is the liberal way of education and they are destroying our nation in the process. I thank God I don't have any kids in public schools.

Our schools here are getting worse because the government keeps pulling money from the programs that help to fund the underfunded schools. There have been numerous schools shut down which just makes everyones classes even larger. The Cons have pulled so much money from the education system that our drop out rate is becoming larger. With the no child left behind crap that Bush has pushed kids dont have to actually do work anymore. The only schools that are getting money right now are the private ones who have rich backers. To all you idiots who blame the current school system on "liberal thinking" you are retarded. The Democrats are the ones who give money to schools and give money to the underfunded schools. They are the ones who try to help raise everyone up to the same levels. Yes our current system sucks because the government only cares about the rich. Everwhere else including Japan push their kids to do better.

Accually the liberal thinking at least from the democratic stand point is that all schools in the US purter rico (i butched that) and all US territories should be ato nationalized, meaning that if one student transfers to another school that he or she would study the exact same thing from the exact same book. This has worked wonders in the French and British society only the british society has a core beliefe and curriculm updated bi annually the books used very from teacher to teacher much like our state universities. You can accually see that there is strong movement for this to happen in the us and it all began with Brow vs Board of Education until the recent Moxley vs School Board in michigan that argued that children from private christian schools classes should count especially with the transfer being innerstate and this casse is in current appeal.
The main detrement to the nationalization of schools in still income and segragation. People from weathy familys tehnd to coagulate around a general area and pay higher school taxes and therefor their children recieve better education and they argue that their taxes for education would only increase if all of the nation was held to the same standard. Also the real educational system that we know of today has only been in existance for less than 100 years as the public university didnt occure till the eairly 1800 and school classification untill the late 1920's when it was reformed and the one room school house with everyone in diffrent age groups did exist.
You will not see in our lifetimes our in the lifetimes of our children the nationalization of schools. Education is ranked number 25 on the list of most important topics in every party except the freedom party where it ranks 2nd in all other european nations and can be directly associated with higher monetary values of the euro and the pound. It is a fundimental economic prinipal that the more highly specialized the nation the more weath it creates the more educated and specilized it society will become. We as americans are just comming out of the industry boom and as it subsides the need for specialization will become more prevalent. That topic however you can study your whole life on. Just because we are a superpower doesnt mean we are the most specialized society look at the average living/education/income ration of the country of england and you will see how far we have to go. America MUST specialize before our education system will become better and that requires people to accually have an education.

I don't agree with you Joe. Not completely, that is. I agree US schools are not great, but I was in the UK and I have seen UK schools.
They are slightly ahead in English language maybe, but otherwise both have similar standards at elementary level. However one thing I found very alarming was that bullyism was rampant at elementary school level while here in the US I can safely say that teachers are very strict when it comes to bullying kids (atleast in the area I live in).
My child's class teacher in the UK actually had a chair thrown at her by a 5-6 year old girl and she was just given a warning! I have also heard of cases where students make religion a big issue (remember the 12 year old girl who has been suing her school because they wouldn't let her wear her hijab? That was in UK!) Such things are not possible here in US.
All said and done, schools in most countries need to be reevaluated to see where it can be reformed and also teachers need to get a batter salary to get motivation to teach.

Agreed.
I taught as a middle school teacher for one year.
I entered in with a philosophy that I could make a difference. It took me one year to figure out the system is broken and badly in need of reform. Teaching wasnt for me...
1.) Teachers are under under paid.
2.) Liberals have screwed up our system so bad that everything MUST be politically correct now.
3.) Red tape and bureaucracy are paramount.
4.) Parents do not take responsibility for their child's development. They assume the public school system will take care of this and they are badly mistaken.
5.) "Most" kids are wonderful and have a genuine interest in learning. Then you have the few in every class that do just enough to get by. (If your lucky) These are the ones that lower assessment scores for the entire class and everyone suffers.
This is one area that our system is completely broken down and few people realize how bad it is.

No, the systems suck everywhere. In Asia they turn out science masters that cant create, in the west the turn out arts major that cant add up, but both the east and the west have there fair proportion of creative scientists and calculating artists. People will become what they will become inspite of the quality of the education not because of it

don't you love how conservatives blame all the problems on liberals yet only make the problems 10 times worse with unfunded programs like NCLB?
all the rest of western society has liberal ideas that didn't ruin their school systems, yet liberals ruined the U.S. system?
as long as conservatives blame everything on liberals, nothing will get done... you're in power, time to stop blaming everything on other people... remember all that personal responsibility cr*p you preach... time to start acting like it...
you have the power you asked for, if things aren't better, it's because you DIDN'T FIX IT!
