I used to want to be a beauty queen when I was in middle school but I didn't have that talent thing down pact. I was very athletic and I always wondered if I could win a beauty contest by making free throws for the judges. Weird. I know that one of the main reasons I wanted to be in a beauty pagent was because my mother is a major tomboy and never taught me how to do my hair or wear makeup so I though that by being in a beauty contest I could learn to be more like the "normal" girls. I certainly have changed my view on that as I have grown older.

I have always wanted to become a beauty queen when I was younger, strut my stuff in front of the whole world and win a title that could make anyone cry with joy and other women green with envy, but that remained just a dream. In reality, I may have what it takes to be a beauty queen, the beauty, brain and poise but that is not enough. We have to remember that you have to take the time out to do charity works as well, not merely smile in front of the camera because you are, the ambassadress of goodwill representing your country. And if you do not have the guts to do that, then wake up and face the reality that the life of a beauty queen is not all bed of roses, it does have a lot of thorns with it.

I must confess I entered a contest when I was a student (in the early 80's), but after the first round I pulled out as I found some of the of questions were shallow & inappropriate. Things like "Would you marry a rich man to secure your future?" Wouldn't go there again!! Beauty is something that people have in their hearts (helping, faithful, loyal, funny, thoughtful) not just how great you skin, hair & eyes are. Sadly, too many girls think that it's crucial to be beautiful & to quote a line from a Savage Garden song,,,"I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem" too true, that is so right.

I'm gonna have to say no. Beauty pagents are just another way to promote "the american image". It's things like beauty pagents that set an unrealistic standard for girls. We as a society should learn to except all women. No matter there shape.

Maybe when I was 5! But the older you get the more I think most women realize it's just an over-the-top exploitation of the unimportant "assets" a woman possesses... except, of course, for the super-duper, brain-twisting questions... that always end with "World Peace"... and shows off the woman's "depth" and over-powering intellect. :o) But... there is nothing wrong with world peace!! So I suppose it's not such a bad answer. :o)

I know I'm sexy and that's enough for me. (I have been told I'm beautiful and I am always flattered)
The contest I won involved getting the man I wanted.

No, thanks, I've got much more interesting things to do! Anyway, I couldn't stand all that false sweetness and light and the backstabbing. All the truly beautiful women (inside or outside) don't have anything to do with this sort of shallowness.
