Go to Device manager by right click my computer go to hardware tab then click in device manager look to see if you have any yellow exclamation are red x under other devices that might say multi Media audio device.If you do then the driver (software) for your sound card are not installed if all is normal. go to control panel and click on sounds make sure nothing is muted.

Or your sound card drivers got damaged.

Click Start->Control Panel->System

Click on the Hardware tab and then on the Device Manager button.

Look for a Sound, video, and game controllers section. If this section is expanded with a question mark or red cross next to a device, then it is a driver issue. Right-click on the problem device and click on Enable. if this doesn't work have someone re-install your sound card drivers.

If the section is not expanded and everything looks OK then it is probably your volume that is turned down. Double click on the speaker icon next to your system clock (in the system tray) and make sure that your main volume as well as your Wave/MP3 volume are turned up.

do you know how to set the volume settings? try double clicking on the little speaker in the lower right of the screen. you should get many different volume settings. check if anything is muted.
double check the jack that you plugged the speakers into. I've put mine in the microphone jack by mistake before.

Do all that zedvill says. If it still doesn't work, then it might have somehow been disabled in the BIOS (assuming you are using onboard audio). Go into your BIOS by continually pressing F2 or DEL key (depends on your machine) before the computer loads. Check in the BIOS if audio is set to disabled.

NOTE: if you are using a outboard audio card (separate sound card), then the audio in your BIOS should be set to disabled.

examine your audio gadget unquestionably artwork with the help of plugging them into something like a cd participant etc. Then see in the experience that your volume is grew to become up on your workstation. Do you have a volume icon interior the tray on the backside of your exhibit? take a glance on top of issues panel for speaker settings. If its not that,then on top of issues panel seek for "gadget" then gadget supervisor. under sound,video and game controllers see if theres a yellow "?" next to it...if so then the gadget is'nt working. in case you have a seperate sound card put in(i.e not working from the motherboard) means down the workstation and reseat the cardboard back in that's slot. attempt downloading greater moderen gadget drivers on your sound card/gadget from the producer.
