I can't find the answer to this question anywhere and this is for school...

The executive can veto the bills that the legislative branch passes.

The executive can determine how many supreme court justices there will be and nominates new ones.

The executive branch has Veto power. It also nominates judges and key policy makers (like attorney general).

Equally important in my opinion is that the President, as leader/figure head, is in the best position to rally public opinion on many issues. By getting face time in the media, the president can sway popular opinion, and bring pressure to bear on the Congressmen and Senators by having their constituents call and write their elected representatives.
