The answer is not 19 and 1/3
start from the answer.
-37 +1 = -36
so, 1-3(x-7),must equal -36
1-3= -2
so(x-7),must equal the only number that when x's by- 2 will equal
-36
A negative and negative must equal a ,..positive,so the answer is positive.
-2 goes into -36,how may times?
The answer is a positive 19.
19.
good luck with the rest of your math homework.

Ok.. you use the distributive property first..
-3(x-7) times -3 by everything in the parenthesis
so you have
1 - 3x + 21=-37 + 1
Get your x by itself. When you carry values across the equals you change its sign so its..
-3x=-37 + 1 - 1 - 21
Do simple math..
-37 + 1=-36 -36-1=-37 -37-21=-58
-3x=-58
divide by -3 on both sides..
-3x=-58
-3 -3
-3's cancel out..
you get -3=58/3 or 19.3333...(infinate 3's)
Hope it is some help!

so it's 1-3(x-7)= -37+1
distribute the -3 to the numbers in the (), and leave the 1 alone for now.
1-3x+21=-36
combine like terms...remember if they're being moved to the other side of the = sign the sign changes...
-3x= -36-21-1
-3x=-58
divide both sides by -3 to get x by itself:
x = -58/-3
simplify if needed.
=)

Just multiply it out:
1-3x+21 = -37+1
Remember that multiplying two negatives makes a positive.
Now just solve for x.
-3x+22=-36
-3x=-58
x = 58/3
x = 19 1/3 (oops! typed that wrong the first time!)

yeah i had lots worry doing maximum of those issues too! yet now i understand. besides, here is how: 2(x - 7) = 4(3x + a million) use distributive assets 2x - 7 = 12x + a million use subtraction assets of equality to subtract 2x on the two facets 2x-2x-7 = 12x-2x +a million ?outcomes? 7 = 10x + a million use subtraction assets of equality to subtract a million on the two facets 7-a million = 10x +a million-a million ?outcomes? 6 = 10x use branch assets of equality to divide 10 on the two facets 6/10 = 10x/10 ?outcomes? 0.6 = x desire this facilitates! ^-^
