GENTS: Do childless, single men have paternal feelings, or do they develop only in marriage after a birth?

No male bashing here...this is a sincere question I've always wondered. Many women have maternal feelings & want children, but there are also many who don't (like my 2 sisters). I want to know if guys grow up wanting a child of their own or if those feelings only come about after marriage, or maybe after the baby is born. Thanks for answering! =)

there was only minor interest in kids for me before we had our boy. now i cant think of what i wasted my time doing before he came along. my wife & i both think we should have started a family years earlier.

Good question. Some do, many don't. Often gay men do. Frequently it is developed with the birth of the first born. Some guys run from their feelings, so they never fully experience their natural feelings. It is considered "manly." Or it was. I hope times are changing, but I don't know that they are. That said, there are many good Dads out there.

i imagine it relies upon on the guy yet typically i imagine you're incorrect. I truly have a good freind who's quickly to be 40 8. He has never married yet consistently tells me that he regrets no longer having little ones. I see him smile at little kids in eating places or maybe as out paying for. i understand that he has very good paternal thoughts and is disillusioned that his existence hasn't produced this kind of relationship. I tell him that for a guy its truly not in any respect too late to commence a relations. i wish he receives what he needs.

My husband says he wants a large family about 4 kids. He felt this way even before we were married so I guess some guys have a desire for kids before marriage and some don't.

my husband desperately wants a baby. I think it is a natural desire for many men.
