I just discovered that someone is using photos of myself on their profile on a personals site (trying to pass himself off as me). Isn't this illegal? Is there anything I can do to put a stop to this?

First off how did they get your photo? Then contact the site administrator stating your situation. BTW - Are you sure you don't have a twin who owns the same clothes and poses the same way you do ? heh.. Another thing you can do is get in touch with the dude who's using your picture and then ask him kindly to remove it. If that doesn't work then you can result in pummeling..

Yes I think this could be theft of identity. Or at least partial theft of identity by using your likeness. You should contact the website and let them know what is happening.

Once you have posted your picture on the public domain of internet, then, unless the image is copyrighted, anyone can reproduce it. There aren't many laws that protect people who post anything on the internet. SO the answer is no, unless you copyrighted the image, once it is out there, reproducing it is not illegal. But it may qualify as abuse by Yahoo standards, so you should report this person.

Report it to the security on the web site that has the photo and profile.

Illegal? Not unless they are somehow profitting finanically off of your image. Unethical as per the terms of personals site I'm sure? Yes...just report them and I'm sure the site will take care of it.

Technically, if you have photos that you do not want anyone to use, you must copy right the photo. Similar to professional photos or they may be used without permission, by anyone.

Consider it as a compliment! Must be one desperate dude. Seriously, Unfortunately , its not against the law unless there is some legal or physical harm done to you.

It is fraudulent. Fraud can have civil and criminal penalties.
Report it to the Personals web site where the photo is posted.

If you did have a copyright on every single one of them, then not much.

You're going to have to get this person to stop on your own terms.
