I run Windows XP Prof., and the very same thing happen to me yesterday when I turned on my pc and all my programs loaded.

All I did was right click with my mouse on the monitor page and open properities. Looked at the setings and appearance to see if they were still set correct and then closed out the properities.

You can also open my computer and open Hard Disk Drive "C", open properties and then tools at the top. Check off with a check mark on check files for errors. You will get a pop up saying that the pc must be free of use and will perform a file check when you reboot. Or the next time you turn on your pc.

You will see a black monitor running all the system file checks for errors. If there is an error, Windows XP will correct auto. Otherwise at the completion of the check all your program will load and I hope the problem will go away..

The problem went away an I have no idea why/how it was resolved. But I did perform the above.

Good luck,

Several things could be wrong, I would start with screen resolution. Right click your desktop and select Proprties. Then click on the Settings tab, you will find resolution settings here. Your problem could be of many causes, try to set resolution, I use 1024 x 768 always older computers may require lower settings. Play with it see if it helps. If not your problem may lie somewjere else. Email or im me if u need further assistance! Good luck. usm

Probably it has the wrong screen resolution settings. Right click on any free space on your desktop, select settings then screen resolution and check if you have the proper settings
