You would think we're trying to kill our 9-month-old daughter when we wipe her runny nose with a kleenex, or washcloth--Her face turns beet-red, she screams & cries, which all just make her nose that much more congested.

Any suggestions? I don't know any babies who like to have their noses wiped, but there must be somebody out there who has a trick that works....

we used the cloth diapers and went for pretty much a face "swipe" instead of nose. our youngest didn't fight once we started that...and we add a big fake "achoo!!" with the swipe.

Sorry to tell you this, but nose-wiping is not liked very well among the diaper crowd. Just hold on and wipe. I used a warm, wet washcloth, just grab child gently and wipe.

Don't go in front of her and wipe her nose because she'll see the kleenex and know it's coming. Come up from behind her and reach in front of her face and wipe it. Squeeze her nose so more comes out so you don't have to wipe it as much.

All children hate their nose being wiped but you can try the "snotter". One of those Squeeze bulbs that you put in the nostril and suck out the snot. That sounds really gross and babies don't like it but it draws out the snot a lot quicker than wiping it up so often. you can find them in the pharmacy departments. It does work.

Make it into a game, chase her or play like your going to catch her nose and just make it fun, even if you don't get it all at once just keep playing. I have to do this with a child that I watch because he hates his nose wiped so I just make it into a game and he laughs and runs but I catch him and he laughs even more.

Every child has a transitional object.....stuffed bear, puppy, etc.

Have the object "blow its nose" and say "GOOD JOB (object's name)" then you say "MOMMY's TURN" ...or "DADDY's turn" ....you do it....then say, "(her name) TURN"

Smile the entire time. Turn it into a fun play game.
