I'm too lazy to do research on here. Been on the pill for 4+ years, want to stop taking the pill and try to conceive. How long is it going to take if I stop right now on my second week of pills. Last cycle was 9/10 - 9/14. I never get a straight answer from my doctor and I am clueless about cycles, ovulation and whatnot.

In commonality, it can take upwards of 3 full cycles (possibly more) before the body begins ovulating again.

If you stop taking your pills in the middle of a cycle, you will have your period, just as if you ended your regular package.

PLEASE, be sure to use protection of some kind for the first 3 months after stopping the hormones to prevent possible birth defects.

You should complete this package of pills before stopping your medication. Doing so will hopefully make your cycles regular. Most doctors recommend that you wait three months after stopping the pill before trying to conceive. This allows your uterus lining to thicken and reduces the risk of miscarriage.

After you have tried for a few months, you should do some research and learn about your body and reproductive system. Educating yourself will increase your chances. And also if you can't get a straight answer from your doctor about a question that you have about your body and life, then get a new doctor. Good Luck.

No one knows exactly when they are going to get pregnant even if they haven't been taking the pill for years.
I hope that your doctor did tell you to wait at least a month after going off the pill before you start trying, apparently the pill needs a bit to get totally out of your system, and it could affect your baby if you get pregnant right away....At least that is what I have been told.

It could happen this month, or happen in a year. My doctor said that these days, it almost takes your body a year of being off the Birth Control to start getting normal. But every person is different.

i got off the pill in october of 2004 and i just got preggo in may. i did have an irregular cycle before--would not get my period sometimes for two months--so this could have been a reason why it took so long.

I thought it was about 3 months. I would wait 3 periods and then start trying. Can't hurt to wait, right?

unless you stop being so lazy on ur own bodily research, no body will know but you.that research HAS TO be done by you.
if you cant do that for urself, you have no business having a child. there is NO room for laziness when it comes to raising a child.
