Most piercers use a hollow 14g needle to pierce you and a clamp to hold the skin. Pain varies from person to person, so asking how much it hurt won't help a lot. Be sure everything is opened in front of you and in sterile packaging.

And as a piercer, I've had everyone from cry babies to people who don't even flinch for the navel piercing. My best advice to you is to relax, take a deep breath and it's only a slight pinch and your done..it's only a second of pain and then you're all done! In my opinion, the clamps are the most annoying parts and what little pain you might experience is worth it.

I have 6 navel piercings, I did 4 of them myself and NONE of them hurt. I was scared for my first piercings, but now I'm hooked.

U have to keep in mind that everyone has different pain thresholds. I had wanted my navel done for 8 years and i didnt do it bc i was so scared. FINALLY i got it done and no it didnt hurt me at all. It was very fast. The pain was the next day but it wasnt anything i couldnt stand.... If you go to a piercer they usually use a hollow needle that is sanitary and very sharp. good luck.

Not at first but the day after is a little tender. They usually use what looks like a knitting needle with a hook at the end of it. It goes so fast that you dont really feel the pain until afterwards. Just be prepared to keep up with the maintence of having a peircing. Its addicting so be careful !!!
