Joy B's answer is almost correct--in PowerPoint, you choose File > Print (not Print Preview), then choose the right option from the Print What dropdown list.

However, it sounds like you aren't actually opening it in Microsoft PowerPoint, but with OpenOffice Impress.

In OpenOffice Impress, choose File > Print > Options > Content. Verify that Only Handout is selected in the Content area. You may have to play with some other options as well to get exactly what you want, but that should be the right area.

Why not put the slides into the Open Office word processor and then just place each slide as a "picture" where you want them, I know it would work in PowerPoint and Word..
I would try it on my system, but I have a notebook and to free up some space I just un installed Open Office.org.

From the 'File' menu select 'Print Preview'. Once there chose the 'Print What' option drop down selection and then choose how many handout (6 slides per page) then just print. This works for me.

Try opening it in PowerPoint and select the view option that you want.

You have to go into page setup and set it accordingly.
