The class is bringing down my gpa. I'm afraid that it will affect my chances of getting into a good college, like Smith, my dream college.

AP English, if you can handle it, will be more important than your GPA in the long run. THE most important item considered for admission is the transcript which shows the courses and level difficulty. That you took the challenge of a high powered, high level course says you are a student who is not afraid to risk. That is a compliment. Forget your GPA and go for the academic challenge IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT>

Chow!!

That depends.
Does Smith take AP credit?
Do you understand the class material well enough to write good essays?
Does your teacher allow you to make your own conclusions so long as you can back them up?
How much is it bringing down your GPA?
Did you take it to have a more impressive transcript or are you genuinely interested?

All of these are factors to consider before you make a decision.

It depends on weighted and unweighted GPA averages. In AP having a "c" is like having an "a" in a regular class or if you have a "d" that would be like having a "b" in a regular class. So if you are talking about unweighted averages then don't drop it. but if the GPA average is already weighted then drop it. and try taking an honors class

Work harder in the class. If you are having a hard time in AP English, you'll definately have a hard time at a good college. Get a tutor, ask your teacher for help, do whatever it takes. You'll need the skills that are taught in this class to succeed in college.

drop it. a good gpa is more important than taking a course that's unecessary.
