David Lee Roth. Van Halen totally went Top 40 pop when Sammy Hagar joined the band, and then they went Easy Listening with everything else after 1990.

Which split are you referring to? The David Lee Roth vs. Sammy Haggar split? Or the Eddie Van Halen vs. anyone who might potentially try to be the lead singer of the band split?

I don't really know what happened; I'd probably prefer not to choose sides. David Roth had his time in the spotlight as did Sammy Hagar; I prefer the song writing and perhaps the singing of the Hagar era.
