It seems my color cartridge is always running out because every time I hit PRINT, it prints in color when it is really not needed. I would be satisfied with non-color 99% of the time. I hope there is an easy solution.

When you click the Print option a window should open up for you to approve the print job. Just look for the Preferences button, click on it and select Black instead of Color. I believe it will stay in the Black Mode until you change it back to color.

Your printer shouldn't be printing in color unless the page you are printing is in color. (Unless I'm not understanding what you are trying to say.)

BTW, a great place to buy ink cartridges is online at http://www.imarketcity.com My Epson cartridges cost about $54 a pair from either Epson or Staples. Believe it or not, I get both the Black and 3 Color cartridges for about $3.50 for a pair. I have been using them for years with no issues at all.

Good luck.
