Most people liked Prince Charles more before he married Diana because he wasn't under her shadow. He got a lot of attention for being the heir to the British throne. I wouldn't say he ever had the same popularity of Prince William, but I think he was held in higher esteem. It was also a different time, the monarchy was more reverred when he was younger, whereas now it's not given the same deferrence.

Once they married he kind of faded into the background and as the marriage deteriorated, Diana used the media to make him look bad by exploiting various situations. Charles also has brought a lot of bad publicity upon himself with some of his outspoken views on alternative medicine and architecture. At the time his interests were considered controversial, now he's seen as ahead of his time in many ways.

Who flew over to Paris to collect the body of Diana after she was killed? Her brother? Her father? Anyone in her family? Was it her recently divorced husband?

I read years ago that some influential business people in the UK and the USA want the country to become a republic. Nothing wrong with that, but they are too scared to attack the Queen. However they can attack the heir to the throne. He has been pretty systematically vilified for 20 years by some media organisations, not all.

Apart from going back to an old girlfriend after falling out with his too-young wife (many other men have done the same or worse) and supposedly talking to plants, just exactly what has he done wrong? No man or woman is faultless and that went for Diana as well.
