Puffer fish require more then just salt to survive. Use marine salt has it has all the trace elements that are also necessary for them to stay healthy. Add one teaspoon/gallon now, again tomorrow, and again the next day. Wait two days and change half of the water, wait another three days and change half of the water again. Make sure the water you add is the same temp as the tank or you will add additional stress to the fish.

I used a product called Ick Clear which contains Victoria Green. This was effective in ridding my fish of Ick.

if your puffers are kept in fresh water, add some salt (not table salt, aquarium salt). add about 1 teaspoon per 2 gallons. Add this amount slowly, over the course of a few days. Puffers are brackish fish, and the lack of salt in the water is causing them to get sick. A little fungus medication plus a good slime coat additive might help the guys recover faster.

if they're salt water puffers, then use the medication and slime coat additives, dont add more salt.
