Cheesy would at least be funny. The strip use to be funny but, as the cast and the author aged it's become more of a soap opera with heavy religious overtones and the occasional joke thrown in.

I liked that strip a long time ago, but I stopped reading as the characters got older and older. I look at it now and I don't even recognize the family I used to see all those years ago. Was it cheesy? No. It was a lighthearted look at a loving family, that's all.

If by 'cheesy' you mean 'wholesome', then yes. It is an excellent strip with character development, realistic situations, which draws the readers to care. I think that people who read FBoW become better people. I don't see the "heavy" religious overtones, either. As Mammy Yokum (Li'l Abner's mom) used to say, "Good is better'n evil because it's nicer!"

It's realistic. I don't think it's cheesy. Lynn Johnston is trying to create an accurate portrayal of real life.

There are times it's a little heavy-handed and un-funny though.

I used to like it ... now not so much. The drawings aren't all that great ... everyone looks so sad looking all the time. And yes, it can be cheesy.

And hey, who are you calling a dip$%&*?? :P :)

Not at all it's true! When you marry someone you have to think about for better or worse!

I think that's part of the point... Then again, it varies with each strip.
