An ASBO is an Anti Social Behaviour Order

The ASBO is issued against someone who is causing a nuisance in an area to set down a series of guidlines as to what that person can or can't do.

For example, if a teenager is deemed to be causing a disturbance hanging around a shopping centre (Mall), shoplifting, abusing other people in the area then the ASBO could stipulate that they aren't allowed to go to that place.

Likewise it could set down a curfew and prevent the person being out late at night when they have been known to cause problems.

Hey. ASBO means Anti-Social Behaviour Orders. They are issued by the courts after submission of a file of evidence from local bodies, almost always involving the local Police Force. They are sort of binding-over orders which carry penalties if they're broken. There are also ABC's which are Acceptable Behaviour Contracts, these are issued by the local Police Force and come before ASBO's. Hope this helps!

Anti social behaviour order.

It's applied for via a court and bans someone from doing something. The terms of the ASBO specifically state what the person is banned from doing and how long.

So an ASBO might say someone is banned from wearing a hoodie and associating with certain people for two years. Or it might say your banned from staring at Mrs Fisher's cat in a menacing fashion for a year.

Like any court order the problem is imposing it. It's easy to ban you from wearing a hoodie, but will the police actually bother coming out to arrest you if someone reports you?

Anti Social Behaviour Order. It's a catch all to give Police powers to arrest people who (in THEIR view or the view of sometimes bigoted authorities) are behaving anti-socially.

As one mans anti-social is another's LIFE, the whole ASBO thing becomes a little hazy.

We are fast heading toward a world where we are arrested for farting, all look the same, all behave the same etc etc etc.

May as well don Cybermen suits and be done with it.

It stands for Anti Social Behaviour Order, and the police issue these out to people who are tormenting neighbours mainly, it can be for anything from loud music, barking dogs, vandalism, violence or rudeness. The youngest person to get one is a ten year old boy and the oldest is an eighty year old pensioner, sometimes whole families get one.
What it means is that if they break their rules (which are set when they get the ASBO, I think they have to go to court) if they break the rules they immediately have to go to jail for a day or so.
