And please don't bring up the WMDs. Everyone and their mother thought he had them before the war.

You statement is a bit misleading. Yes many intelligence organizations from numerous nations thought that Saddam had WMDs, but none thought that a full-scale invasion was necessary in order to suppress his deployment of those weapons. That is where Bush lied. He used the same intelligence that everyone else had, in a manner that exaggerated how imminent the threat was.

Only to simpleton Neocons does every supposed threat have to be addressed with full-scale war. Secondly, his administration’s mismanagement of the war effort is what has more people up in arms than his overstatement of the evidence from the intelligence community.

If everyone and their mother thought he had WMDs before the war, then why were so many other countries telling us he didn't? It has been shown repeatedly that the Bush Administration told us things that have turned out not to be true. They also continue to tell us stuff that turns out not to be true. They can claim that all that stuff was false intelligence, and best guess scenarios, but that doesn't account for the repeated lies and lack of any truth. But it all ads up to them trying to convince us with lies. At least that's what I think.

Well, the UN inspectors were beginning to doubt, as they hadn't found any evidence. Also, the lies involved so-called evidence (yellow cake purchase, for example) that the administration knew was false.

Former Bush aides have said that, as soon as 9/11 happened, he kept pushing them to link Iraq to 9/11. They kept telling him there was no link.

He didn't care that there was no link, he insisted they "prove" what everyone knew was false.

These are just the main two lies "justifying" the Iraq war. He's told thousands of lies about all kinds of other things.

don't bring up WMD?

that's like saying... "let's talk about Christianity, but don't talk about Jesus"...

the issue is, BUSH SAID SADDAM MADE WMD POST GULF WAR... we have found nothing in Iraq to support that, we've found a few old weapons, but no one was disputing those and that's not why Bush said he wanted to invade...

but back to the question... no one up before Bush believed that enough to make a full invasion...

the issue here is... did everyone place people's lives on the line on the issue... no, because they weren't completely sure...

everyone once thought that the world was flat... but that doesn't make it ok if people died because someone placed people's lives on the line for the idea...

there are things that you think are right, but then actually placing people's lives on the line for it are TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS...

For those who would be the arbiters of truth (no matter what the facts are), Bush is a lier because they want him to be. In reality I'm sure the President has said strategic lies on National Security issues that were in the best interest to the country (confuse our enemies - and I don't mean liberals, but I don't think he has lied on issues of truth to the public (rational for going to war). He certainly may have been wrong, but I don't think he lied.

Take a look at the editorial below. Yes, it addresses the WMDs, but lots of other stuff, too.

Conservatives like Leogirl and Birdsnake will always make up ludacris statements and will always deny it. The truth is undeniable. Be a good American and see for yourself.

No the President didn't lie. If he lied, then every single politician not only in the United States, but around the world has lied since we began the cease fire in Iraq in 91.
